It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13. Along the way I have had the honor of meeting and learning from respected musicians such as Lawrence Jackson (former director of SU Bands), Herman Jackson (Brother of Randy Jackson), Jerry Lee Lane (Marching percussion pioneer) and countless others. Integrating the principles of moving the wrist, arm, and elbow fluidly ahead of the hand to produce even tone and clear voicing, has helped my students overcome technical challenges with greater ease. For beginning students between ages 3 and 6 I use Progressive Piano Method for the young beginner. Older beginners are given options based on their age, ability and goals. I have testing materials available for those who are interested. When I taught international students at Brook Mays, I learned many different techniques for young beginners. Most of my students start at around 3 or 4 and stay with me all the way through advanced Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, etc. Read More

I started in September of 2018 with one student who I taught throughout the semester, and seeing him grow throughout the months was satisfying unlike anything else I've experienced. I taught one student a semester due to my school commitments but still managed to teach them a lot and open their eyes to the world of music.
