While in college I briefly stopped teaching but resumed before graduating, and have been teaching in home lessons again since completion. One of my strengths is finding the tools and key steps to success for my students by finding common styles and genres to make learning fun and worth practicing later. I started teaching friends various instruments and general music theory as a freshman. Then I continued my teaching with tutoring my fellow bass students with more difficult material. Now, after having graduated from Rowan University, I teach with the Resonance School of Music teaching guitar, clarinet electric bass and upright bass. While Resonance is certainly a more traditional approach, I like to think I balance it out by also teaching at a School of Rock, giving instruction on both guitar and electric bass. Read More

I allow the student to decide what they are going to learn. Since the guitar is a staple instrument in so many styles, I let the student decide what path they are going to pursue on the instrument, and then I work in the basic skills while learning the songs and tunes that the student loves. In my experience, this is much more effective and holds the student's attention better than sitting them down and making them drill etudes written 200 years ago. Read More
