My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I started teaching when i started college. I was first a substitute teacher. From then, I slowly built up my student database. I have worked for many music schools and have always had a packed schedule. I make sure the student feels at home and comfortable when taking lessons. I have recently learned bass guitar as well. I encourage students to practice at least 20-30 minutes a day because even that little amount of time makes all the difference. I also love to incorporate creativity in my lessons with songwriting and improvisation. I also encourage students to participate in recitals as well. I arranged and recorded two guitar solo album in the beautiful wooden sanctuary of Jan Hus Presbyterian Church in New York City entitled: An Anthology of Sacred Carols for Classical Guitar and An Anthology of Sacred Hymns for Classical Guitar were subsequently released on EAGLE MASTERWORKS PRODUCTIONS (formerly Eagle Records Masterworks). If my student shows an interest in being able to play a particular piece, then we are working step by step to reach that goal by building up to it. While in college I briefly stopped teaching but resumed before graduating, and have been teaching in home lessons again since completion.
