I'm a very passionate Musician and believe in the use of music as a tool for healing spiritually and helping others as music provides a source of discipline, requires great concentration and is soothing to the mind. Music is an outlet for people when struggling or having hardships as well as a source for developing good concentration skills and necessary disciplinary habits. I have a Master's in Music Therapy and currently work as a Music Therapist in a nursing facility. Read More

I'm pretty laidback and like to make the student feel comfortable. If given the opportunity I can definitely launch into some pretty passionate talks about music , to really reach out and teach my students some really cool things. At the same time though, i don't like to bore any student with certain topics if they aren't ready and willing to learn these things. It really depends on the student. I like to encourage playing or jamming in the lessons as well so that we can apply different things we are learning to actual music. Read More

My experience teaching for those first few years set the ground work for the methods I like to employ as a teacher. I found that self-expression found through music that the student enjoys, and then later music that they themselves create brings the most joy and magic to the students learning experience. I also have a knack for understanding where a student is confused when dealing with more abstract conceptual problems regarding music theory. Read More

My most important takeaway is that I want my students to leave a lesson feeling motivated. I had entirely way too many teachers that failed to instill a sense of passion about guitar. "Drills, drills, and more drills." Lessons would feel more like work than fun, and once I'd get home, I'd have the most difficult time finding the energy or the drive to practice, and instead, would rather jam with friends and play music that I wanted to hear. My teaching style revolves around the individual student. Every student must practice daily and enjoy practicing, so astudent's success comes from my encouragement and instruction. Each student brings a desire to learn how to play an instrument and my goal is to assist them in understanding and being able to playthat instrument. I conistently tailor my instruction to the student's ability and also remain consistent in my standards of teaching. Read More

For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well. I have little formal experience, but I believe that instrumental to the success of any aspiring musician is encouragement and guidance. I have been giving casual lessons to friends and acquaintances for years, and my experiences have taught me that virtuosity alone cannot teach; one must be able to articulate the methods and processes that have been in place for years in one's own musical practice to someone approaching it fresh. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
