For voice students, I will require them to not only learn theory, but they will be required to study piano for a short period of their lesson. All levels of voice are welcome in my studio! For beginners I generally begin with giving the basics of how the voice functions and focus on breathing for singing. Then we ease into vocal exercises. After the first few lessons we move on to singing a simple song. I encourage the student to bring in music they like and would like to sing. I begin teaching every student with the same vocal exercises to strengthen the voice and then we discuss different styles and how the voice can change stylistically but not technically. Read More

Beginning Piano Students: I use three books in the Piano Adventures series: (Performance, Lesson, and Theory). I work composition into the lesson using the Orff-Schulwerk technique of elemental music creation. In addition, I supplement written musical work as needed. Voice Students: I interview all voice students first to see what their goals are in voice study. I then begin vocal study with the study of posture using Alexander Technique ideas, and a study of breathing and support techniques. Read More

I was trained classically, but my specialty is belting. The biggest thing for me is teaching people to sing correctly. I wont compromise a students health or talent by letting them move too quickly if their only interest is learning songs. Technique is the basis for all things singing; but the outcomes will give you a big, beautiful, strong voice, that will let you do seven shows a week on broadway, or a concert tour for six months, or whatever your heart desires! I am a passionate, optimistic and hardworking person who loves teaching music. I believe music is a great way to express oneself. Since I have been playing piano at age 5, I have performed Kabalevsky’s Piano Conerto No. 3 in D Major with Yuba Shuttle Orchestra in California. Besides performing in different states in US, I have been performing opera productions, such as Madama Butterfly, Romeo and Juliette, Rigoletto, Sour Angelica, The Flying Dutchman, and Solo Recitals in Italy, Japan, and Hong Kong etc. Read More
