I have performed, written and music directed a children's theatre tour where I taught children to sing, act, and perform in front of large crowds. Both piano and voice students are required to become familiar with basic music theory. No worries if you are not proficient! We will get you there within the first few lessons. For piano students, I will start them with basic scales and the Hanon exercises. After the student masters a few of the beginning exercises, we will slowly begin to add repertoire that solidifies proper technique. For vocalists interested in jazz, I'll use The Real Vocal Book for material, and to teach out of, I'll use my beginner piano and guitar books for sight reading, and teach my own techniques from memory. It is a basic book with specific essential elements for reading and understanding music. As the student progresses I use to introduce songs for their repertoire applying what they leaned in the book.
