I have 15 years of experience teaching private, one-on-one lessons and 25 years of experience as a guitar player. My teaching style is generally laid back. I believe that a student will only work as hard as they want to, and I have little control over that. I focus more on finding out what will make the student want to work hard, rather than forcing them to study something that does not interest them. It's all about getting the student to have a positive musical experience. That being said, I do my best to hold my students accountable, but try to do so in an encouraging way vs. a nagging and controlling way. Read More

Whatever the student is interested in, that is the direction we go in, whether specific or not.. we start with your interests.. beginners, we learn songs, intermediates.. scales, and soloing, advanced.. reading, theory, and composition. I am very song oriented, and we choose based upon the students taste, the songs to learn.. Then we do a lot on practice habits, repetition, metronome use, timing, right hand relaxation, posture, left hand correction. Read More

Theres nothing more fulfilling than watching a student develop a genuine passion for playing the guitar! I believe its essential for each student to progress at their own pace, and I support this by setting achievable goals in each lesson. Celebrating these accomplishments not only builds confidence but also fuels their motivation to keep learning. By taking the time to understand what excites each studentwhether it's a particular genre like J-pop or a favorite songIm able to tailor my teaching approach to match their interests and goals. I will go at the students learning pace but also push them to accel. I teach at your pace and will make sure you get results. We can learn out of a book of your choosing but if you're unsure of what you need to learn I will gladly take the reigns and start you out with what I think would benefit you. I have a TON of books to learn from which range from rock books, jazz, sight reading, tablature and also some holiday stuff if that's something you'd want to do. Read More

I am Alicia C., an avant-garde musician who is passionate about reshaping the boundaries of modern saxophone, composition, and production in the 21st century. Currently, I call Los Angeles my home, but my musical journey has taken me across the globe, performing at various festivals in Europe, including Italy, Spain, France, Germany, England, and more. One of the highlights of my career was touring with "The Life and Music of George Michael" in America and Canada, gracing prestigious venues like the House of Blues in Houston, Texas, and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California, to name just a few. My teaching philosophy is pretty simple and I describe it with these three words clear, direct, and creative. I believe that when it comes to teaching a teacher must be creative, since not all students learn the same way. Also a teacher must be simple and direct in his teachings. A lot of the times teachers tend to give too much information that goes over the head of the students. Read More
