My teaching style is flexible, supportive, and student-focused. I begin by understanding each students unique goalswhether its mastering technique, preparing for performances, building confidence, or simply enjoying music. From there, we create a personalized plan to help them succeed. I tailor my approach to match each students learning style, pace, and interests, whether theyre beginners or advanced musicians. My goal is to make every lesson engaging, encouraging, and rewarding, so students stay motivated and excited to learn. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

All lessons are customized to meet the individual needs and interests of each and every student. Instruction is open to everyone with a love for music and a desire to learn, regardless of age or previous musical experience. I teach fingerstyle playing on nylon and steel-string acoustic guitar. In addition, I teach beginning piano and ukulele. I don't use one specific method book. Over the years, I have developed my own method that I then tailor to each student, depending on their objectives and goals. Read More

I introduce scales right away and each student usually has a technique book. I also incorporate games into lessons for young students to keep it fun. As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on. I may also write some of my own music, especially for learning note reading. Read More

I have been working in the music industry and teaching for over six years. I have lived in London, New York City, and Los Angeles, and have worked in each city, leading my experience to be unique and easily adaptable. I have found a lot of success with students when I am consistently encouraging them to perform in front of Pias and family. This is how I became a music, professional, and hope to get my students there also. Read More

Perhaps we could make up a new song with the note names. Or for example an older adult who is having memory problems for learning a new piece, but is very good at associating the sound of music with a feeling or image. Perhaps we could take the music in smaller chunks with an image association for each new musical chunk. It makes me very happy to watch each individual begin to understand and harness their own personal strengths during the learning process. Read More

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
Practice sloooowwwllyyy. Don't rush. Your brain will learn way faster and you need less tim to get it right. Focus on setting up a regular practice plan over a couple one-session plan. Also the key to practising effectively is to find material that you WANT to work on. And if there is material that has to be done (like scales and sorts) try to find pieces that use the type of exercises creatively. Our brain plays tricks on us, we want to be shown that what we practice is not in vain and will be used.

When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
I always had a strong drive in music. But I haven't really thought about picking it up as a career. When I was about 14 years old, I found an artist named "Hiromi", who changed my life forever. She is a Japanese Jazz pianist, with a very special melodic style. She inspired me so much, that I had to look up where she learned her craft. Seeing that she went to College at Berklee College of Music, it instantly became my goal to get accepted there. So my journey began. I haven't regretted that decision.

If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz piano performance. I chose that degree because I was really interested in Jazz and the music that has been influenced by this style. So it was kind of natural for me to pick it. Also, I am very interested in Rnb, Soul Music which is heavily influenced by jazz. Jazz is something beautiful. You hear it everywhere, but not many can pinpoint exactly what it is. It can sound very subtle and easy, or it can sound harsh and loud. Jazz is art. It conveys feelings you have in the moment. For me, it is the ultimate representation of music, the ultimate representation of oneself.

What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
Being able to travel the world through music. Playing at the Emmy Awards 2019.

When will I start to see results?
You will absolutely learn something on the first day. Results come with continuous practice.

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
Yes I did. I was lucky, that my mom saw my interest in music and immediately set up a lesson with my first teacher and mentor, up to this day. He had a feel for my musical taste, always presenting me with great music that I really wanted to learn to play. He showed me that hard work will pay off. Through him, I was introduced to my first keyboard competitions. And I won. A good teacher will want to see their students thrive. He'll want to give it his/her all to push the student as far as they can.

Why did you choose your primary instrument?
It was love at first sight. I had a small toy keyboard at home on which I played melodies t the age of 3. Since then I always wanted to learn the instrument. I was mesmerised every time I heard someone play.

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
If the child shows signs of musicality and interest in a particular instrument or music in general, it is never too early. A great teacher will see that and find the best suited material for the young one. It is also very important that the teacher can work with kids. Not everyone want or can do the job. You have to be playful and be able to convey your message in a kid friendly way. That alone is a challenging task not many can overcome. Try to find the right teacher for the job, set up a meeting to see if they get along, the rest will show.
