Since graduating Ive had the opportunity to utilize my music degree in crave vocal instruction, directing, musical directing, after school music instruction and (my greatest passion) performing on stage. Most of my professional experience has been with the Marine Corps Music Program for 15 years. I also grew up with private piano lessons, and continued band and show choir throughout high school.  Before my career with the Marine Corps Band, I also performed professionally around northern Ohio as a keyboardist and drummer in Top 40 and Rock bands for 3 years. For beginning students, I focus on building a solid foundation of vocal technique (including: breath, resonance, posture, register, and diction). We build this foundation through singing pieces that the student is familiar with and lots of vocal exercises. At the same time, I like to introduce basic music theory concepts. I have been teaching students in music for 5+ years now, with guitar being my primary instrument. I was initially self taught, learning mainly from the countless forums, videos, and banks of articles and knowledge that the internet had to offer, but that would only take me so far. I then decided to major in music, for which I'm still undertaking, which has taken my musicianship much higher. I use a combination of teaching styles accumulated from my own time learning to expedite my students progress, so they don't have to take as long as I did to get to their goals on their instrument.
