The methods that I normally use are the Alfred Basic Piano Library, and the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures. I also use technique books such as Fingerpower, Hanon, and Czerny. I always incorporate Music Theory in my lessons as well as improvisation. i am familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music technical requirements and find them necessary to any student wanting to become proficient at piano/keyboard playing. I use may online worksheets for theory, improvisation and fun repertoire as well. i am open to the needs of the student but also have a structured method of teaching so that all aspects of the music learning process is followed. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities, and pride myself on being able to teach pretty much anyone and everyone. Boiling down one specific method to generalize my technique of teaching is difficult. Each student is so unique and requires different types of teaching and technique to reach their goals. I have some students who are very visual and we use a lot of hand movements to place where their voice needs to be, and I have others who are very technical. While I aim to help students become their best, I ultimately want them to have fun above all else. I believe progress looks different for everyone, and I am very patient and happy to go over something more than once. Learning an instrument is more of a marathon than a sprint in my eyes, and I hope to guide each student on their own musical path.
