I teach the basics first. I show my student how to hold the bow and the violin in detail. I explain that it will be awkward to hold the bow in correct position because it is unusual for person to hold the right hand that way. If they already know what genre they'd like to specialize in, they will be given a curated coursework to help them build the skills they need to master whatever they wish to Jam out on! The methods that I normally use are the Alfred Basic Piano Library, and the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures. I also use technique books such as Fingerpower, Hanon, and Czerny. I always incorporate Music Theory in my lessons as well as improvisation. i am familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music technical requirements and find them necessary to any student wanting to become proficient at piano/keyboard playing. I use may online worksheets for theory, improvisation and fun repertoire as well. i am open to the needs of the student but also have a structured method of teaching so that all aspects of the music learning process is followed.
