Each student is usually at a different level. For beginning students we focus on breathing, how to make sound that is free and easy, pitch, rhythm, tone and simple sight reading and songs. I make my own lesson plans according to each student's needs. If the student has little experience in music literacy, this is a great place to start and we can further explore where their interest in music lies. I covered a little of this in previous paragraphs but I utilize the students ability to learn without the instrument in hand and utilize themselves as the instrument. One example of this is I tea h them to mark time with their feet and subdivide the best into qurters,eighths, etc... and then test them thru aural rhythmic dictation. Voice methodology is to learn how to make the correct sound on the flow of breath.  One must learn how to breathe whether singing loudly or softly in whichever style or genre the student wants to learn.
