I have been teaching applied lessons since 2006, when I began teaching high school students in IL. Since then, I have taught students from middle schoolers to retirees, from beginning students learning to match pitch to advanced students taking professional auditions and winning national awards. I am an encouraging teacher, but I help my students set realistic goals (and stretch goals!) that keep them motivated to progress in their musicianship. How our lessons progress really depends on the student in question. If they would like to pursue competitions, I am well equipped to help. In voice lessons, I start with the Bel Cantor style of teaching and once the fundamentals of singing have been achieved, its time to learn how to break the rules and maintain a healthy singing voice. In teaching piano, I use the book Alfred Adult for my beginning students. My parents were opera singers, I grew up in a Latin American setting, and I performed with a symphony orchestra at the age of 13. I have taught piano to students of all levels and ages.
