For Piano students, I like using the Royal Conservatory Methods, some Faber books, and implement Jazz Studies, Classical Training, Scales, Arpeggios and Chord Progressions. As they become proficient in chords, then I teach improvisation skills, and Ear Training. For Vocal Students, I teach Extensive Sight-reading using the Kodaly Method, Vocal Technique, Ear training, and Genres which include, Musical Theatre, Classical, Folk Songs, Disney, Jazz, some Pop. I studied dance at the age of 6. My mom bought a piano for herself to learn to play. I would go to the piano and try to make up songs that I could dance to, which then lead me to take piano lessons for 15 years. I encourage lots of questions from my students. I will also ask them to tell me what they felt in there voice when I ask them to do something. I believe that the voice teacher is only as good as his student can understand what they are actually being asked to do. I set goals for my students, and ask that they practice every day for at least 30 minutes on various things that I may ask them to work on such as scales or a new song ect. Read More
