My students get to choose some of their repertoire and lesson content as it makes it more enjoyable for them. I do require all students to play scales as they provide an essential foundation for all that they will play. I am a graduate of Long Island University: Post Campus with Bachelors of Music in Music Education with emphasis in Trombone Studies. I have maintained a small private low brass studio for the past three years and teaches students ages -12 on various instruments in multiple music schools across the island. I was a Music Teacher in the New Haven Public School system for 10 years, and then moved on to become the Music Coordinator at the Highville Charter School for eight years. In addition she had the pleasure of being a vocal/coach at the Amity Music Academy in Woodbridge, CT in which she moved on to the New Haven Academy of the Performing Arts teaching vocals/piano lessons, and she was also the Music Director of the Musical Theater Intensives, while at the New Haven of Performing Arts, I had the pleasure of joining an organization called International Voice Teachers of Mix, in which I am consistently being educated on the voice specifically mix technique . I began teaching during the Summer in high school, mostly for kids I babysat. However, when my sister booked the national tour of The Sound of Music, my clientele expanded to include mostly Broadway kids. In the past couple years, my students have been seen on Broadway/tour in shows such as A Bronx Tale, School of Rock, and Anastasia. I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music.    With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music.
