Instruments: Piano Voice

I am an inspiring and highly motivated teaching artist, who takes great joy in sharing my love of music with everyone. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education- Jazz Voice from Temple University in Philadelphia. Throughout my time at Temple University, I had the opportunity to perform at The Academy of Music in Philadelphia and at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. I have been teaching, directing and performing for over 15 years. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

Since moving to NYC, I have also started teaching at the New City School of Music in New City, NY. I find that teaching has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had while in music, and I often feel that I have learned as much from teaching as from my own study. I firmly believe that it is as important that students learn basic musicianship skills such as sight-singing and music theory as learning their instrument of choice, and I try to incorporate these elements, among others, in voice lessons. Instruments: Piano Voice

Above all else, I believe that the learning process should be rewarding and fun! Setting incremental goals that can realistically be accomplished is important because developing skills of this type takes time and patience. I like students to work on both things that are their bread and butter while simultaneously working on more challenging material that will get students out of their comfort zone. I value having a positive personal and professional relationship with students, as lessons should feel like a safe space that students should WANT to come to! Read More

Instruments: Voice

I have always had a passion for teaching! I come from a family of teachers, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to teach. My senior year of college, I took two semesters of vocal pedagogy and I was instantly hooked. I love the science behind how the voice works, and am fascinated with how that applies to each individual. This new-found passion led to me pursuing my Masters degree in not only performance, but vocal pedagogy as well. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

I especially love teaching voice. I make goals and adjust to the pace of the student.  While I don't believe I am too strict a teacher, I am always trying to challenge students. Besides keeping them on track with practicing the fundamentals, I encourage students to discover how beautiful and fun music is.    I think my style is more learning music itself. Since I am a singer, piano player and composer, I think I more encourage my students to use their ears and to understand harmony and theory which very is useful for playing music with any instruments. Instruments: Piano Voice

My style is very interactive in not teaching the students, but demonstrating what are the proper ways to approach different praticing techniques and repertoire selections. With my vocal lessons I have students do proper warm-up techniques and various scales before we begin working on vocal selections.  Afterwards I use repetition with the repertoire in order to help the students with skills that are needed to perform any particular piece including intonation, diction, and breathing. The technology imitates effects delivered by amp makers Marshall, Orange, and Fender.   Midi Editing: Garage Band lets you edit and adjust notes generated by Midi files which can also be generated to look like the notes you’d see in music notation. For producers and songwriters wanting to add extra instrumentation to their demos, this feature is immensely helpful. The program also lets you quantize notes, which turns a sloppy synthesized instrument performance into one in perfect rhythm and feel at the touch of a button. Pitch and duration of notes can also be edited... Read More

...a terrific blues guitar scale that will help you get acquainted with the entire neck of the guitar. There are a few seemingly odd stretches with your fingers here, but it will all make sense once you start learning the scale. If you’re new to the guitar, don’t let this scale intimidate you. Other than the open string, the scale is built off of a repeating finger pattern of Index-Middle-Ring-Pinky on one string and then Index-Ring on the next. Practice this scale slowly to the beat of a metronome.     Improvising   Learning how to improvise is an essential skill for blues ... Read More

...strumming chords, arpeggios are notes from a chord that are played individually and in quick succession.     Rhythm Guitar Exercises   Having an extensive knowledge of chords and shapes is essential for any student wanting to become a proficient rhythm guitar player. Mastering transitions with simple chords in the first position such as Em and D is the first step, which should be followed by mastery of bar and extended chords up the neck of the guitar. No matter how challenging the chords might be to play, I highly recommend practicing transitioning from chord to chord in a very slow rhythm set to ... Read More
