I am a constructivist teacher. I like my students to drive their lessons. However, there is a structure to the lesson. There is always a warm-up, theory and/or sight-reading, and choice time, where the student works on something they have chosen, and then time to work on something I have chosen.\ Lessons always end on a positive note! I like to work with students individually for their own goals and skill level. For younger students, we work on msuciality and basics of singing through devleopmentally appropriate (and fun!) songs. Regardless of the student's level, each lesson contains singing repertoire, vocal exercises to work on technique, and musicianship skills. The combination of these elements will depend entirely on the student's needs and desires! At the consultation lesson, I will provide a written assessment of where I see the student progressing and propose a plan to reach the students stated goals, focusing always on the process of individual development. Instruments: Voice
My teaching experience dates back to my college days and my first vocal pedagogy class. We were all assigned a non-singer to teach and I won't lie, I was very nervous taking on my first student. However, once we got going I fell in love with teaching and have been doing it on and off for 5 years. I do my best to maintain a positive attitude in voice lesson and strive to teach based on a solid foundation of healthy technique. Read More

I try to be as flexible as possible, many things would depend on the student's age and background. I pay a lot of attention to movement when playing the instrument, I try to do this from the lesson one with an absolute beginner. For most beginning students who are children , I typically start with Alfred Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course Lesson Book A and voice I typically start with Adventures in singing. Instruments: Piano Voice Keyboard
For beginning students, I prefer to use the Alfred's Basic Piano Course books. Once the student gets down the fundamentals and becomes more technically proficient, I introduce solo repertoire and get them started with some fun and musical etudes to improve finger dexterity. I also like to make the lessons fun and entertaining for the kids by playing some music games or giving rewards. For adult students, I try to find appropriate beginner piano books. Read More

Im an elementary music teacher based in New York City! I moved to New York just over 8 months ago from Louisiana. I have loved getting to experience the creativity and art scene in the city, and am excited to further my teaching experience here. Before moving, I taught voice lessons for 6 years! I have taught all ages, from 3 to 90 (and am willing to expand!) My goal is to help people to understand their voices, and to just have fun. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I ask my students what their goal is with singing and if they want to do it professionally. Then I do vocal exercises to find out which voice my student has whether its soprano, mezzo-soprano or altos. Once I know what type of voice my student has, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire from opera, musical theatre or pop. I always ask my students how they feel with a specific vocal exercise and if they notice a change in their voice. Read More
