For my teaching goals I like to help my students learn the instrument from the basic fundamentals. I believe music is like building a house and it is important to start with fundamentals in order to construct a strong foundation for musical knowledge. I like to teach proper technique and playing standards so my students will learn correctly and not have to go back and relearn things and relearn their technique. Read More

Nothing is more important than meeting my students where they are at. While I use the same method books, I understand that progress looks different for each student. Learning piano should not only be rewarding, it should also be fun! In each lesson, I try to maintain an environment of learning while also using a variety of games, activities, and exercises around the concept of the day. I expect consistent practice from all of my students - there's no progress without it - but how that practice looks varies from student to student and their own music goals. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching privately during school and have 5+ years of experience. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Teaching for me works best on an individual level. Students work on different levels and languages concerning music, and you have to be able to adapt to them. Some people might understand everything from the get go, some students need graphic support, some student need to learn song to understand what they are doing. The important part of being an instructor is not the actual material to be taught but being able to clear the way for the student to learn and teach himself, as well as providing a direction towards understanding the instrument and music through the taste and necessities of each student. I have been teaching for nearly a decade, my earliest experiences being at the start of college. At first, my specialty was working with young children from ages 5 to 10, but quickly my studio expanded into a student body comprising of all ages, especially high school students and adult learners. During this time, I developed a sense of musician psychology, aiding my students to not only develop musical skills, but a sense of themselves and their performative and artistic inclinations.
