I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. We gradually increase the tempo over the next several weeks. Pieces like that will be rehearsed at the end of each lesson after working through a few passages in Alfreds book. At the beginning, I ask my adults what music theyre interested in learning. I like to gear my warmup exercises and cool down exercises towards that style and I always put aside a few minutes at the end to work on whatever music they desire. Read More

I love seeing students progress and grow a passion for music. I think that it is extremely important that a student have a working trust with their music teacher. I love to sing and have a passion for music. I have been performing since I could walk. In the fall of 2012, I receive my degree from UNCG in music education. There I studied private voice for 3 years with Dr. Nancy Walker, former vice president of National Association of Teachers of singing. I also had the opportunity to sing with the University Chorale, Men's Glee, and also UNCG's all-male a capella group, Spartones. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for music. I believe in having fun while learning, and building my lessons around what the students are interested in when teaching the fundamentals of playing. I have been professionally performing since 2008, from major venues to private events. I have learned not only the ins and outs of playing a guitar, but also how to really bring a song to life and connect with an audience. Read More

For beginner students who are children I would begin with Gregory Blankenbehler's Singing Lessons for Little Children so the child gets a grasp on fundamentals before continuing onto solo music. For adults, it would depend on their music level, their ability, and what they are passionate about. Read More

I recently moved from Upstate NY to Fort Mill, SC and am excited to open a studio in my new home. My background is in instrumental music and choral/ classroom.
