I began teaching lessons in college. Most of my early students were elementary-school aged and novice. There, I learned that regular practice must be encouraged to allow interest to begin to pique and passion begin to form. I firmly believe that hard work and discipline go much further than talent alone. I also firmly believe in fun! My most deeply seeded goal is for my students to develop a life-long love and practice of music! Read More

I began teaching voice 6 years ago, while still in my own undergraduate studies. Teaching bass and piano quickly followed once I realized how much I enjoyed the teaching side of music. I learned to love music at an early age, which got me into taking lessons, and eventually learning the process that is required to move a student forward. Slow and steady progress in all areas of music is the way I have learned, and is the way that I teach. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola Trumpet
I've taught piano and violin for many years and enjoy the rewards and the challenges of working with students and having them learn the skills to both enjoy and succeed in music. I have also spent a number of years as music director for several different schools and churches working with choirs and handbells. I have found that when students are motivated and inspired there is practically no limit to what they can accomplish, and helping to provide that inspiration is one of my greatest goals, and why I enjoy teaching. Nothing is more important to me than my students' personal goals and having a discussion on how we can achieve those goals. I always want to make sure my students are moving forward in their creative process, so I like to check in with them at each lesson to discuss their progress. It's definitely important to me that my students practice on their own (especially if we're having lessons once/week.) I like to have my students record themselves (using the voice memo feature on their phone or, if possible, another recording device) so they can listen back to their lessons and practice between lessons. Another technique I specialize in that I share with students who are interested is self-accompaniment skills. Singing and playing piano is an essential part of my artistry so I believe I can share some of the tricks I've picked up over the years. Students who want to learn how to accompany themselves on piano while they sing will learn how to view the piano and voice one instrument and balance their attention to both. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 4 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 4 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students with vocal training and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I am a passionate and patient vocal coach who loves working with students that are excited about becoming better singers and musicians. In 2018, I graduated from Belmont University with two Bachelor's Degrees in Commercial Music and Music Business. Currently, I am studying to earn a Master's Degree in Contemporary Performance from Berklee College of Music. I began performing onstage at five years old, and haven't stopped since. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to perform in many shows and venues across the U.S., largely in the Kansas City Metro area. Read More
