I studied music in middle school and high school through wind ensemble, jazz band, marching band, show choir, and private lessons. During this time I also attended music camps at McNally Smith and Berklee College of Music. I then moved to Nashville and graduated from Belmont University's School of Music. In Nashville, I have played with many independent artists across multiple genres as well as toured with bands across the country. Read More

I like to work with students toward their goals. Setting achievable goals with the student and guiding them as they accomplish the goals. My teaching style is to mentor and coach students so they enjoy their time playing music as well as see their progress. Helping each student with the individual challenges the encounter is a priority, and every student is unique. I always take time to find out what inspires the student and tailor the lessons and repertoire so they enjoy the music they are working on. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For all students (beginners and students with prior experience) I begin with teaching scales and arpeggios. Scales and arpeggios are the foundation of keyboard technique, and are found in all piano repertoire the student will encounter. I generally use the Macfarren Scale and Arpeggio Manual for older children/adults (those who read music) or the Scales, Chords, Arpeggios, and Cadences: First Book (Alfred) for children. If my student cannot read music I teach them scales and arpeggios without music, while teaching them how to read music from a method book. Read More

Fostering the interest in music into a passion within my students is the ideal teaching situation. This is why I place importance on listening to the student's goals to make decisions for certain parts of the curriculum. There are technical and theoretical skills that must be learned, but the students have some choices in materials. Meeting them where they want to be is some of the strongest motivation I can provide for my students. Read More

My goal as a Strings Instructor is to have my students be exposed to all the wonderful music that is out there in the world and to develop an appreciation for it. Some students haven't even decided what their favorite music is when they come to me. Students enjoy discovering music and it is my goal to guide them. I like to have students write out their goals as performers and musicians. Read More

I started teaching music about 10 years ago, and Ive always enjoyed working with students. Ive performed professionally in several bands on multiple instruments in the past 10 years, and Ive also done a good bit of studio work from composition and recording, to producing, to mastering. I emphasize practice, having fun, and learning useful skills as the keys to success in music lessons. I do believe a good combination of modern music, classical music, and music theory is the best way to become a well-rounded musician and maximize enjoyment! Read More
