I am passionate about teaching kids (and adults) music fundamentals and about helping them find the spark that will keep them interested and growing. I believe it is important to teach good technical and musical habits from the beginning, along with basics of music theory. But I believe it is just as important to explore the students individual motivations for learning an instrument and what will bring them a sense of accomplishment and joy. Read More

As I stated above, I'm looking to make things easy for people, whether young, old or someone in between! Singing starts with the breathe, and for me control of one's breathing will lead to success. Read More

Most important to my teaching is that each student to listens to a lot of music, and learns to play the music that they love as soon as possible. I work with a variety of method books/videos depending on skill level and stylistic interest, and teach time-tested regimens for building raw ability on the instrument. I also have many exercises of my own invention that are fun to listen to and play, while still remaining challenging and building facility. Read More

I am sure, I was born a teacher, because when I explain anything, even in piano class, guitar or voice classes, I can see the reactions of the student when they understand me. They feel so happy and I feel so proud. From 1980 to 2013 I was piano and guitar player for a lot famous singers like "El Indio Araucano and Leo Marini and many more in the New City area. Read More

The essence behind my teaching style is constructed from an active gathering of ideas from the worlds of vocal pedagogy, body awareness, movement, emotional awareness, affirming language, and space holding. Developing a plan with the student versus “for” the student is also an essential piece to fostering success and allowing the student to witness their own understanding of the work - placing high emphasis on the journey and viewing snapshots on a timeline to recognize progress. What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
I encourage everyday practice to achieve proper awareness of the technique. I always ask students to be able to feel more than think, because music is more a related to emotions than thoughts. I recommend to set up a practice time everyday, at an hour that is more comfortable for the student. Before start practicing, I advice to set up goals for that practice, meaning, what do you wanna accomplish during that session. This can be simple as "I wanna feel my breath." This goals have to being positive and directed to your main goal. Be able to recreate the feeling felt during the lesson and not the sound that was created. I recommend to record in a notebook what felt good about rhe practice session and what went wrong and did not feel good.
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
I come from a music family based of ear musicians. Everyone in my family plays the guitar and sings. At every family party, there is always the time to play the guitar and sing traditional Ecuadorian music. I decided to study voice when I was 13 years old, even though I had being studing music since I was 4 years old. I felt in love with the art of singing and performing in front of a big audience. I always wanted to communicate with people through music and with my singing I am able to transport people into a different place where a story is being told and is based on their own imagination.
When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
I come from a music family so music was always around me when I was growing up. Everyone in my father's side of thr family are musicians and they all sing and play the guitar but none of them are professional musicians. My parents saw that I had music attitudes since I was little so they put me into a conservatory and see if I'll develop this passion. I loved music and the experience that I acquired at the conservatory was amazing. I was able to connect with people in different levels and have fun makong music. I decided to continue my career as a professional musician when I was 15 years old. Since that year I decided to be more serious about it and study hard to accomplish more goals and objectives. My decision hasn't change since then and I'm proud to say that I chose the best profession because is who I am.
