I love having my students use notebooks to keep track of their own goals, practice habits and achievements. I think this is a great way to have them keep themselves on track and it's also a neat way to track progress! As a teacher, I like to encourage my students to be self-motivated so they can improve on their own. Taking lessons is obviously important but it is also crucial for students to practice the materials learned in lessons on their own time. Read More

I started teaching music lessons back when I was 14, when friends would ask for tips or lessons, and local parents wanted lessons for their children. I fell in love with the act of helping others to realize the music inside them, and have been teaching consistently ever since. Learning any musical instrument involves learning about oneself. The student and teacher must work together to define their goals, be comfortable confronting shortcomings, discover how they learn best, and find the patience and drive to practice for long enough to get better. I have professional experience in classical, musical theater, and jazz styles and am comfortable teaching at every level. With regard to teaching, I have experience in one-on-one and group settings in my home and at Bach to Rock music school. Ive been teaching private vocal lessons for over 10 years, both vocal training and piano.I believe students should have fun while learning and participate in music outside of the classroom, so I encourage them to participate in recitals, competitions, and even songwriting to stay motivated and celebrate their progress. I have one major rules for all my students: No one is allowed to be overly critical of themselves when they are working hard and trying out new ideas. You see, singing takes quite a bit of coordination, and there is always something else to work on. We must celebrate our triumphs and then take stock of what we need to work on next. Instead of asking a student what they think was wrong, I like to ask students to first list 3 things they think went well. Read More

My teaching style is very unique and I call it the chameleon music style. Just like the chameleon changes color to his surrounding environment, I like to be open for change. According to the students needs and convent from the parents I can push the students to excellent technical abilities, but I can also be fun and not make the lessons boring. In my music studio there are no judgements and no shaming. Read More

In class I work on the development of the singing voice through body awarenessapplying the Feldenkrais Methodand voice techniques from the worlds of classical, jazz and contemporary music. Aural awareness is improved through ear exercises singing. Techniques for performance practice and dealing with performance anxiety are addressed. During the work process students work on individual song interpretation/presentation and on individual improvisation (if the student is interested). Read More

I believe in always cheering on my students and creating a warm and loving environment to help them grow! No matter what their age is, encouragement is key. Acknowledging their progress is what is going to move them forward and continue to learn and practice more. Constructive criticism is of course necessary, but it's important to focus on what the student is doing correct, and then build upon that and what they can do better. Read More
