Essential Elements, especially for string players, offers an incredible foundation for beginners. One thing I really love about those books is the use of scales from the start. With my new beginning students, who don’t have much experience, we start with the fundementals - singing posture, breathing, basic warm ups and their importance, music theory, and simple repertoire. For my more intermediate, advanced students, I will check to see where your fundementals are, and help you blossom from there.
