An interesting fact about my particular vocal journey is that because I had never really had formal voice training, I was learning vocal concepts from a scientific and theoretical perspective in the classroom while concurrently learning them in my own body and voice in my own lessons. I began teaching in 2013 during my studies in singing. I prepared my students for auditions and entrance examinations at performing schools and music universities. I can teach opera, musical theatre and pop as well as songwriting and music theory. Besides finding the voice, I also do personal development coaching and confidence training. I encourage my voice students to be well rounded musicians and help them with their piano and accompanying skills, aural studies, composition and sight reading in addition to assist them their vocal technique and overcoming any vocal issues they may be experiencing. I have studied many contemporary vocal styles and techniques and assist students with reaching their full potential. I am always researching into new techniques and practices to stay on top of my instrument and also because I am passionate about voice and teaching others! Read More

I love working with students who want to dare to try new things! I think that students grow most when they are stretched out of their comfort zone. This allows them to find their limits physically, vocally, emotionally, and then to build upon their strengths to become the artists they strive to be. I like to incorporate physicality to help loosen the body and free the mind from overthinking. I also believe music is a place to express and will always meet my student where they are each lesson. For younger students, especially children, I will begin their first vocal lesson by standing next to them and showing them how to stand with correct posture. Then I will move on to breathing by having the child place their hand on their diaphragm. I will show them that it is the muscle right above their stomach. In the best way possible, I will explain to them that in order to breathe correctly, they must be able to feel their stomach move in and out instead of their chest. Read More

With 15 years of performance experience, I have sang with the Richmond Symphony Chorus, the Tulsa Chorale led by Dr. Tim Sharp, the TU Cappella Chamber Singers and TU Chorale led by Dr. Kim Childs, and the Chancel Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa led by Ron Pearson. Additionally, I have performed in concerts in coordination with renowned performers and conductors, such as Eric Whitacre, James Bagwell, and Anthony Parnther. Read More
