My mother influenced my life as a musician. In 1969 she encouraged me to audition for the Newark Boys Chorus. I auditioned. I was accepted and sang in choir-school for three years, singing music from Renaissance to R&B. In 1980 I received a BM and MMT from Oberlin Conservatory. At Oberlin I met three great teachers who encouraged me to sing professionally. I pursued the career! I portrayed characters like Maddalena in Verdis Rigoletto, Ciesca in Puccinis Gianni Schicchi, and Suor Infermiera in Puccinis Suor Angelica. The same year, I embraced the role of a 'Witch' in MSM's compelling production of "Dido and Aenas" by Henry Purcell. Looking ahead to the spring of 2024, I eagerly anticipate my role as the enchanting 'Fairy' in Jules Massenet's "Cendrillon," a prestigious MSM production. The method books applies to my philosphy of teaching rhythm in syllables (ta, ti-ti, etc.) and found success with all my students in their abilty to read notes and play well. I also love their arrangements on their jazz, rock and roll, and popular series. I also try to include composition in their learning to make it fun and challenging. Read More

I always start with applicable musical theory to help the student understand the basics of piano and what are the proper techniques to play the instrument. The same applies to voice lessons. After a student is able to read music on the basic level and knows the placement of notes on the scale, we proceed to the basic repertoire and practice.
