With all my students, I like to first figure out their goals and tailor our lessons to match each individuals aspirations. For every singer I will assign various vocal exercises to practice each week. We also will work on sight-reading exercises to encourage a high level of musicianship. For beginners, I typically like to start with the 24 Italian Arias and/or light musical theater pieces to establish a good technical foundation and gradually move on to more advanced repertoire. I started my teaching career my sophomore year of college while studying the performing arts. I first began teaching at a music school in Greenwich, CT after being referred by my orchestra conductor. After teaching there for a few months i was then recommended by a fellow teacher to instruct at a school in Darien, CT as well as their sister store where I developed a strong clientele. After teaching for the past six years i know that this is my passion in life. Read More

Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students engaged and developing a passion for singing and music. It's important to set real and specific goals so the progress can be noticeable, working at each students pace. I find encouragement and acknowledgment of accomplishments is essential when I teach. It's all about connecting and finding out what inspires the student so I can tailor the lesson to their wants and needs. Read More

I believe that creativity is important and I use Alfred and Hal Leonard books as well as theory books to help with the lessons. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I also try to teach music theory, chord progressions and all the musical scales in the major keys. Read More

I studied performance as a singer at Rimon School of Music, where I got to sing in different genres and ensembles. There I also studied voice pedagogy and have been volunteering as a voice teacher for kids and teenagers who can not afford lessons. When I graduated I found myself teaching 6 days a week in different music studios in the country, gaining experience with different ages and levels of experience. Read More

One thing I love to implement early on is that your student shouldn't put themselves in a box. Many singers refer to themselves as "an opera singer" or "a belter" and I believe that all-singing styles benefit each other. There is a healthy way to explore all singing styles, and being fluent in those styles will make you more versatile throughout your whole life. For beginning singers, I would begin with the basics of music reading and simple melodies that would be recognizable to their ears. Read More

I have performed professionally around the country, most recently at Bigfork Summer Playhouse in Montana where I also taught childrens theatre classes and private voice lessons. Read More
