I have been teaching for 5 years, ever since of friend of mine asked for some lessons to help him get back to singing. I loved the direct connection to this very personal aspect of peoples' lives, and I felt humbled by the trust I was given. I gained experience by doing, asking questions, and really listening to the needs of my students. The student decides how fast he/she will progress by practicing very hard, or by working at a more moderate pace. Once again, I always participate in the learning process, as this method of teaching will enhance the private lesson, and a mutual enjoyment and respect will develop! Music should not be boring or intimidating, so I teach to my students' personalities and their comfort levels. I will ask my students to try rigorous exercizes but I will do so in a manner that is fun and rewarding, not exhausting. I enjoy adding humor to my lessons and I like to keep the mood light and conversational because music is as much about connection and communication as it is about notes. Read More

I Directed/coached musical theatre, winning Best Musical Director for Into The Woods with my high school students. My 30+ years as Church Soloist and Music Director/organist included Kings Chapel and Arlington St. Church/Boston, St Anthony of Padua (Litchfield), Our Lady of Sorrows(Hartford), Church of the Good Shepherd, (Hartford) St. John the Evangelist (Watertown), St Anthony (Prospect). I was very fortunate to receive 5 grants to research Fanny Mendelssohn, Amy Beach, and Barbara Strozzi, resulting in feature journal articles, publication of 60 scores, and lecture/recitals throughout the world including Venice, Boston, and New York. As I said above I've been teaching private lessons since 2006, volunteered at my high school, was the assitant in many of my music classes at University of Bridgeport.
