My mom was a Carnatic music teacher. I had once subbed for her when she was late coming from work. It was fun teaching her students. My mom also worked with children with special needs. I have watched her work and I got inspired by her. I wanted to go into Music Therapy after seeing her work, as well as the experiencing of assisting her. I have had a troubled childhood, and music helped me. Read More

When it comes to feedback, I believe in specific feedback that brings certain things to students' attention and praises good technique. I ask that you always try your best in lessons, as I will always put my best foot forward to help you advance. I am a very positive and fun individual, and I will always try my best to make your voice lessons not only productive, but a great time! Read More

Some are booking gigs at large venues opening for big name artists, others are pursuing careers in music and are getting into schools they never thought possible, others are finally gaining the courage to perform in public, etc. We all seek out voice training for different reasons and it gives me great pleasure be able to assist each singer with his/her personal goals in a way that is individualized, engaging, and exciting! For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. For guitar I teach note reading as well as tablature, but we mostly work from tablature, unless the student is studying classical. Read More

In the first lesson, I like to find out about my student's goals. Regular lessons usually consist of reviewing exercises, etudes, and songs that were assigned from the previous lesson and then making adjustments as needed. The goal is to develop technique as well as overall musicianship so that every piece of music is played or sung well and beautifully. I like to follow an outline of skills basic to the instrument and to making good music but often adjust lessons based on the student's ability and personal goals, Read More

It's important to me that students are invested in their own lessons, and what this means will differ from student to student. For some five year olds, that may be simply participating in the whole lesson and practicing a few minutes per week. For others, it may mean being challenged with advanced materials. Each student will receive a unique repertoire and lesson based on ability and interests. I focus on technique, then repertoire, then theory, then review for a 30 minute lesson, and younger students will often get a fun music-based game at the end if the lesson has been fruitful. I've been teaching singing lessons for over a decade, to all students levels and ages, and I saw them successfully reaching their musical goals with confidence and passion, and that has been very rewarding for me. I always start from a very solid foundation on vocal technique, breath control, to move with expanding their vocal range, stamina, and vocal agility. I encourage my students to challenge themselves in performances, and auditions, so we also focus our work on preparing an appropriate repertoire, working on stage presence, performance skills, and stage fright, if any. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
