I was born and raised in Hong Kong and am fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. I grew up singing in a well-established school choir and won multiple awards in the local school music festival as soloist, duet partner, and chorister. I was accepted at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with Honors at entrance and continued to garner merit-based scholarships during college and eventually graduated with First Class Honors. For the voice (as it is a built-in instrument) we work on expanding vocal range through warm-up exercises. It's important to identify the natural transitions throughout a student's voice, usually based on classical technique for healthy sound production. We will be able to reconcile the voice with the music that the student is interested in singing, all styles are welcome! During my 27-year tenure as Assistant Chair of the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, I instituted courses for teaching singers all styles of jazz and contemporary music. I hold vocal performance degrees from Pacific Lutheran University and Boston University. Most recently I was a 2022 Laffont District winner and named the 2022 Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist recital winner.
