I have been teaching private lessons for about 15 years, as well as camps and workshops. I have served as a clinician and instructor at Drumline camps and with Orchestra. I created the Percussive Arts Institute of Ruston to bring music education to an underserved community and taught around 100 students in an after-school program. Teaching provides me with an opportunity to share my love of music with those who want to learn to become better vocalists. We soon push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of and allows them to apply the music theory in real time. From there we move on to learning music theory, Open throat technique as well as specific techniques involving the students preferred Genre. Teaching for 12 years and playing for 18 years has really inspired me to cater to every age, and the student’s personal goals and their particular culture as there are no limitations to my style. I have experience creating music programs for church ministries, learning centers, music academies and more. My programs offer growth within child development skills as an individual as well as a group setting, helping the student to be more confident at a young age and continue to grow as well for adults, give challenges to the student, fun games for memorization of music and to enjoy the lessons, and most importantly how to share their gift with family and friends while going through performing etiquette training. I also discuss the importance of eating the right healthy foods to maintain a healthy voice and lifestyle. I often invite the students to my events to encourage them to continue to be disciplined and learn all they can while they're young. In my voice lessons, I want to feel that the student is doing what they want to do, not just what I tell them. With this in mind, I work with the student to find songs or pieces that they want to try and sing. If it is an appropriate level of difficulty, we will work on it straight away.
