Nothing is more rewarding that seeing one of my students develop a love for music. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting goals that are realistic and acknowledge when a student has reached a particular goal. This helps the student to become more eager to learn, more willing to spent that time each day practicing. In order to do this I do provide a detailed analysis of the progress a student makes every month and areas of interest that students should focus on in the following months. This will include pieces to study and listen to, performers to research, techniques to rehearse, and other key elements. I also make it a point to have an open dialogue with all students regarding mental health.
