My goal is to teach students how to use their best voice with minimal effort, but exhibit maximum skill. I believe the voice is a machine that must be cared for and nurtured, but most importantly used wisely and responsibly. I started teaching to supplement income between tours. However, I soon fell in love with teaching! My experience is part real world and part academic, I was a professionally touring Recording artist for 15 years. In that time I learned the in's and outs of the entertainment business and a passion for molding young and upcoming Singers into professional's. When my students first begin a lesson we start by assessing their ability with an intro song of their choosing, from there we Build using open throat technique and slowly inching into more advanced techniques such as Distortion and Vocal fry. I am a member of the Symphonicity Orchestra in Virginia Beach, VA and the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra in Atlanta, GA. I have studied under the direction of The Hampton Roads Chamber Players and The Bay Youth Orchestra in Norfolk, VA. Currently performs several times a year at The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and several other events in the Atlanta Metro area. I start by teaching methods and theories, I like to approach this in lots of different ways so that my students don't get burned out. I use flashcards, interactive games, and songs that my students are familiar with to introduce these concepts. I find that once the student knows the basics, they are quickly able to apply them to any piece of music set in front of them.This gives the student more confidence early on, which lasts because the knowledge of the basics doesn't fade.
