I started teaching one-on-one so the students could get the results for strengthening their voice. I have taught voice lessons to college students with varying performance backgrounds! I constantly strive to provide my students with a safe space so that learning can be as easy and fun as possible. In order to communicate musical ideas most effectively, I feel it is equally as essential to develop the students ear as well as their reading abilities.Each student will receive a personally customized work packet that includes sheet music, worksheets, and possibly audio/video samples. The packet implements training techniques exercises that will develop the students reading skills and ear-training, along with basic theory.The work packets also include sheet music to songs chosen by the students, in order allow them to apply their techniques in ways that are self-fulfilling. I typically use the Alfred method, although I still like John Thompson, and I also like the Faber method. For adults, I like to use the Alfred books that are specifically for them. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world.
