Every new student comes to their first lesson with particular skills and musical interests. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals. My goal is to cultivate musicianship.  Students are encouraged to develop technical skills as a means of creative and emotional expression.  Sight reading and improvisation are taught simultaneously with music theory and composition. I am a strings teacher, teaching privately for 10 years and in public schools for 7. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, with a concentration in violin. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Orchestral Conducting at Messiah College. Strings students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I teach students strong foundational techniques in order to develop their abilities. I have created a curriculum which is comprised of the Suzuki series for Violin, the String Builder Series by Samuel Applebaum; the Introducing the Positions-Volumes I & 2 and Scale studies by Harvey S. Whistler. Music theory is taught using the Master Theory Series by Charles S.Peters and Paul Yoder. Additional Etudes that focus on Bowings, and Double Stops are taught to the more advanced student.
