I enjoy teaching violin to students of all ages and seeing them progress from novices to advanced players.I develop a rapport with the students and their parents and tailor the lessons to match their goals. Several of my students have auditioned and been accepted by orchestras such as the Essex County Youth Symphony, the NJ Youth Symphony, the Westfield Youtn Orchestra and the  Montclair Gamer Orchestra. For beginning students, I initially focus on their setup and how to hold the instrument properly. Having this solid foundation helps in the future to avoid injuries and negative habits. After that, I use the Essential Elements books and Suzuki method books as a guideline with supplemental materials. At this point I would also begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for a first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my teaching according to their level of interest, keeping lessons engaging and fun. Many times that includes playing fiddle tunes, which is very exciting to me too, since I have been involved in Irish culture since I was young. My musical expereince is mostly classical, beginning at around age 8. Since then, I have studied with several teachers of the New Jersey Symphony as well as graduates of the Juliard School in New York. In the summer of 2011, I traveled to Italy where I continued my study of Italian language, art and music before graduating in the Spring of 2012. I'm very passionate about teaching and love to work with all ages of students. I had a studio in Mountain Top, PA for 25 years until our family moved to Utah. I recently relocated to the Lehigh Valley. I've performed with many orchestras and have coached many students to be able to compete and perform at Carnegie Hall for many years.
