I taught a handful of students during the year of 2012 in Kentucky but focused primarily on my studies after transferring to San Diego. I began teaching again after graduating from USD at my studio in Coronado. As soon as I meet with a student or a group of students, I make sure they are welcomed by an energetic teacher before getting started on their lesson. I try to keep the student(s) engaged by showing them different ways and approaches to music from books and my own personal approaches to help them grow knowing their teacher is well experienced. Since their is a lot for a percussionist than just playing with sticks on a drum, there is no doubt that the endless possibilities in teaching students the various instruments will help keep them engaged as well being more excited about music. I began teaching private lessons in college as a side job, but due to touring with orchestras I was unable to truly develop my own studio. I also volunteer taught students from low-income families through the Azusa Pacific Conservatory for two years. In the summers of 2010 and 2011, I took over a former teacher's studio of 20+ students while he toured in Europe. Lessons are fun!  My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come.  Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
