It is rewarding to see my students grow as individual musicians. I, along with each student, will set high yet realistic goals for their musical journey. Each student will take part in their progress through practice and/or research between lessons. I will tailor each lesson based on the students wants, likes, and need by first understanding the student as an individual. Read More

I have performed with artists like Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca, Chris Calloway, Bobby Caldwell, Teddy Edwards, the Los Angeles Southeast Symphony, Johnny Polanco y Conjunto Amistad, Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, Tito Nieves, Los Angeles Opera among others. I have had a passion for sharing my knowledge and new information about trumpet playing all of my life. I have studied with some of the most renowned trumpet teachers of my generation including Mario Guarneri, Roy Poper, Uan Rasey, and William Fielder, my mentor for over 20 years. Read More

Due to my experience working with multiple grade/age levels, I have learned to carefully fine tune my teaching strategy for each individual student that I work with. At the beginner level I typically work from method books to ensure a solid development of performance fundamentals. I also like to spend a good bit of time establishing successful warm-up and practice routines. With intermediate level students I continue with more challenging method books as well as standard musical excerpts and etudes. Read More

Learning a new instrument, no matter at what age level you start, is a real challenge. It can absolutely become frustrating for even the most eager and ambitious learners at times. I think positive reinforcement with students at all age levels is an absolute must. One thing I think is important is being able to realize is that everyone makes mistakes. Read More

I have been a music teacher/performer for many years and know the rewards that result when success is student driven rather than teacher imposed. I use open ended questions to find out the goals and insecurities of students of any age. Positive reinforcement encourages students to gain confidence and use their natural creative abilities to overcome obstacles. I am conversational without being overbearing and tend to listen as much as I talk. Read More

My methods are based on what I have personally tried and proven to be beneficial. The three main methods I find to be extremely important are the Arban book, and the Clarke technical and characteristic studies. In addition, I've found equally important the Earl Irons long tone and flexibility exercises. I like to find out what the student is most interested in a tailor the practice regiment accordingly. Once we start to master the basics, we can move on to specific musical styles that the student wishes to pursue. Read More
