I have been teaching for over 10 years. I have taught many students in multiple instruments and genres. I have a tendency for keeping students for many years and have had students go on to recording their own discs, music schools for college and taking their experience right to the stage for live shows. I encourage my students to develop their art and play live as much as they can. With over 25 years of playing multiple instruments, multiple music degress, constantly playing live concerts and writing music scores, I can teach and help develop my students in a way that will help them with their art and other aspects of their lives. I began taking private lessons shortly after I joined the band program in middle school. I continued to take lessons all throughout high school and college. Shortly after graduating high school I was offered the position of drum instructor. During college I taught for several years as the drum instructor at Winter Haven High School. After getting a clear idea, I begin to look over the basic fundamentals of the guitar with the student. We either do this through beginner exercises I know from books that I have used throughout the years to learn and teach or just basic general exercises that I may have in mind. Examples of these books include: Troy Stetina Series, Hal Leonard Guitar Method, etc... After that, we would slowly move our way through more fundamentals and even check out some basic music theory (notes on the fretboard, basic chords and finger positioning, beginner scales, etc...) For beginning students, I use materials such as Beginners Method books, Hal Leonard books, Jody Fischer books, and popular songbooks. I'm make sure to include ways to properly develop your ability to utilize music theory training from an early stage. Throughout lessons and into the skill level of moderate to intermediate, I'll use sound clips as examples to fully ensure that you as the student are grasping the concepts and can hear how to improve and approach creating musical notes using the tools that exist.
