My philosophy lies in structure - such as teaching in appropriate amounts that are challenging, but not overwhelming. I will always ask students what they're interested in learning and work that into the lesson. But the main focus for beginners is to be comfortable with the fretboard and to have fun. I break lessons down into technique, theory, and whatever the student is particularly wanting to learn. During my three years at Seminole State, I performed with the guitar ensemble, the Jazz Band, a Jazz Vocal group, performed multiple recitals, played with a student led jazz quintet that gigged around the Sanford and Lake Mary area, and became the music theory tutor for the music program. I can teach and play almost any style of guitar, and I always teach reading music, music theory, and proper technique along with any particular songs the student is interested to learn.
