I have been teaching over 30 years privately and also at different institutions. Currently I am a piano faculty at the Hartt school of music in the University of Hartford. I have been teaching from young students to seasoned adults and chamber music coaching. I am a classically trained pianists but also I took a jazz improv seminar and have taken private jazz piano lessons for years. I do not force anyone to play or think only one way to play piano since everyone comes in different sizes. Read More

In my piano teaching I have devoted time in collecting pieces for all levels and abilities. I believe students should learn from a piece of music rather than a book of sterile excersices. As such, I am a great supporter of those pieces written for children by composers. One example for all is Bartok's Mikrokosmos, where each piece is a migniature composition for children. I have used Bartok's Mikrokosmos for more than 15 years and also made my beginner students write small pieces based on those principles found in Mikrokosmos. To complement this approach I choose pieces from all genre and music styles for more advance students. I am new to Florida (which I love, by the way!) but spent many years teaching singers in middle and high school as well as adults with the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice (opera) in NYS. My greatest performance memories include singing in the backup chorus for tenor Andrea Bocelli (for 20,000 screaming fans!), as well as Barry Manilow, Scotty McCreery, Josh Groban, Aretha Franklin, Reba and the legendary Yolanda Adams for "A Capitol Fourth" live on PBS for their 4th of July celebrations in Washington, DC. My junior year culminated with a semester in New York City working in an administrative/artistic internship at the Metropolitan Opera. During school, and immediately upon graduating, I was fortunate enough to see my interest in music and theatre education realized in my work opportunities. For the past few summers, I worked at four community arts organizations, as both a teacher and an administrator. I currently work at Hartford Stage company as an education apprentice, where I serve as a teaching artist in a variety of capacities, as well as assisting with general education department logistics. To me the most important thing to establish is a true, personal connection with my students. I like to know what activities other than music they enjoy, what their favorite/least favorite subject is in school, what they want to be when they grow up, what motivates them and what doesn't. This knowledge helps me to develop ways to explain sometimes difficult concepts in a way that is easily accessible and the student is then able to apply this knowledge immediately. Read More

I have experience teaching on both a private lesson and public school environment. I started to teach private lessons shortly after my undergrad career and during my grad school career. During my grad school program I had the opportunity to teach both at a elementary and high school level in General Music and in Strings. I during these placements in the public school I wrote out lessons plans and taught music theory and instruments to the students. Read More

I have been teaching beginner students and children privately for the last 5 years. I have been freelancing as an organist, pianist, chorister and cantor all over Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts for the last 7 years. I particularly specialize in early music - from the Middle Ages through about 1780. I have particular love of early keyboards - clavichords and harpsichords, specifically. My vocal experience has helped and extensively continues to help my keyboard-playing AND keyboard-teaching. Read More
