I work with what level and progression suits you, and I'm super-easy to get along with. Also, I believe in positive reinforcement. There are some old school teachers who sometimes degrade a pupil when they're not doing an exercise correctly. I am currently attending the Hartt School at University of Hartford pursuing my masters in piano pedagogy. I have been teaching piano for the past three years and absolutely love working with students of all ages and levels. I prefer to begin students when they are at least 9 or 10 years old, but I have taught younger students who were auditioning for Broadway shows and have the ability to understand concepts of breathing and focus. I think of myself as almost a doctor; listening and individually crafting a game plan for each singer. Your voice is as unique as you are and I prefer to listen and decide what is needed to make the voice as centered, focused and strong as possible based on solid technique with breath support and letting the voice ring. I find a combination of modern, jazz, and classical music can go a long way in helping students enjoy music and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions, recitals, and college auditions, as well as composing their own material.
