I started my private teaching instruction in both voice and piano at The Renaissance Center in Southbury, CT. I have always enjoyed teaching my craft and enstilling the love for music, theatre, and dance into my students in the same ways that my teachers did for me. I have been teaching privately since I was in high school, and I have been public and private school teaching general music and choir for over 15 years. Read More

I have been teaching private music lessons since I was 18 and my International travels and performances have given me the opportunity to conduct master classes at some of the prestigious musical academies across Europe. Music truly is international. Now more than ever global music is available instantly through the advent of smart phones and the internet, as well as music throughout history. Still, it is a gift to have a passion for music and each individual is given their own path that they must follow. Read More

The way I learned is the way I teach. I was taught the same way multiple ways and because of this I can give students different avenues to learn the same thing. So if they don't understand it in A, or B, I still have C, and D as a back up. I try to include the student to help navigate their own lesson plan and figure out what they want to focus on. Read More

Music has been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. After graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, I have continued to perform and broaden my range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. Performing around the world and working with some of todays brightest and most acclaimed singers, ensembles, and conductors such as Leon Botstein, Dale Duesing, Karen Brunssen, James Hall, Warren Jones, Phyllis Hoffman, Pro Arte, Bard Festival Chorus, Canticum Scholare, New York City Chorale, VOCES8, and many others has been a privilege and immense learning experience. I have been teaching for 5 years, ever since of friend of mine asked for some lessons to help him get back to singing. I loved the direct connection to this very personal aspect of peoples' lives, and I felt humbled by the trust I was given. I gained experience by doing, asking questions, and really listening to the needs of my students. I listen a lot, and do my best to find creative, sustainable solutions to issues that could come up in the voice while also being as encouraging and realistic as possible. Read More

My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student. When teaching drums/percussion, my method books of choice are Standard of Excellence and Winning Rhythms. Read More

I believe that students learn by DOING, so I bring my microphone to every lesson to give them that hands on experience. I plan on having multiple recitals throughout the year so students can experience singing solo as well as in group settings. I also love to challenge my students with new songs and fun exercises weekly, making sure we are seeing that personal growth as we progress. I give my students things to practice weekly by sending them videos of exercises or songs (all super fun of course) to learn before we meet. Read More
