I am a positive piano teacher and good with both children and adults. I use positive reinforcement that I learned from working with people with disabilities. I studied piano, theory and composition in college for three years and have studied with performing artists afterwards. I have worked with other professionals to compose a ballet and enjoy working with young people. I've been playing piano for 45 years, and have taken private lessons a total of 15 years with three different teachers.  Music is my passion, and so is teaching, so it brings me a lot of joy to share this with my students.  Music has taken me down many avenues in my life, starting at a young age.  My family are all musicians, so it has been a constant in my life.  At one point I played for church, and as a teenager I played for a ballet class.  Like I mentioned before, I've done many weddings and funerals, and look for any opportunity to play piano. While getting my Masters in Music, I assisted teaching Music Theory at the University of Iowa. From there,I taught classes of students at the West Bank School Of Music in Minneapolis. From the Midwest to the Southwest: I taught students at Los Angeles schools and privately there also. I learned what were the best musical works with which to engage students: - Beloved classics by Beethoven, Chopin and others - New Age music by Winston, Einaudi, and Yanni - Gospel works in the best arrangements for a student's level, and - Folk music and works from American History, such as Ragtime, classic Blues, and Jazz-Age music. Hello! I have enjoyed teaching children, competing, accompanying for universities, studying music theory, playing for weddings and nursing homes, and playing at my church for the past eleven years.
