I am a versatile music teacher. As an undergraduate at Ithaca College, I learned each band and orchestra instrument from the college instructor. For example, I learned to play the oboe from the oboe professor. We had to make our own reeds and use them to play our final exam. Through this rigorous training, I learned to play all major scales and high school level music on the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French Horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and percussion. I try to keep the student as interested as possible, some have shorter attention spans then others and for them maybe i will do 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes. others who are really into it and do not want to leave i may teach them for an hour and that often turns into 2 or 3 hours of just jamming and having fun at no extra cost because without students a maestro is nothing but a musician playing music. i love to play along with students so they are more prepared when they go out and make music with others musicians and they can stay in time with a drummer more easily. I prefer to teach my students the way I was taught, by learning to read and write music. There are students who prefer to learn by ear, but written instruction is always best for countless reasons. I use a combination of my own introductory lessons (which I customize depending on the age and maturity of the student) with published books and materials. For piano, I like to use the Alfred books and classical sheet music but I am always open to using other instructional books and songs that the student may want to learn. Read More

I've been playing piano for 45 years, and have taken private lessons a total of 15 years with three different teachers. Music is my passion, and so is teaching, so it brings me a lot of joy to share this with my students. Music has taken me down many avenues in my life, starting at a young age. My family are all musicians, so it has been a constant in my life. At one point I played for church, and as a teenager I played for a ballet class. Like I mentioned before, I've done many weddings and funerals, and look for any opportunity to play piano. Read More

I help students to find their forte. I discovered what motivates them through years of teaching in my studio, students' homes, music schools and instrument shops. Highlights of my teaching career include teaching at The L.A. Conservatory of Music and Eubanks Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, and presidency of the Music Teachers Association of California, San Fernando East Valley. While I played at the piano, several congregations have sung God’s praises. Read More
