For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Alfreds Basic Piano Library method and theory books. Ideally, a new song is assigned every week and the student will practice daily. During lessons we will review the piece that the student has practiced, I will provide feedback, and we will move forward to a new skill. In my voice lessons, I want to feel that the student is doing what they want to do, not just what I tell them. With this in mind, I work with the student to find songs or pieces that they want to try and sing. If it is an appropriate level of difficulty, we will work on it straight away.
