While I do like to use method books and curriculum such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Strings and Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, I also recognize that every student is unique. That's why I work hard to get to know each of my students and figure out what their strengths and needs are. Then I can tailor a path that is personal to each student and keeps them excited and engaged while moving towards their individual goals. Read More

The importance of how the teacher transfers their method is dire in helping students develop and grow. Learning that each student has their own pace at learning an instrument is also very important on both sides tof the teacher and student, so using whatever to help a student grasp how to play is key. It is also very heart-warming to find out that a student used the same methods and stategies to aid in their journey of learning an instrument just like myself. Read More

I am not a method Nazi. I teach what the student needs. If i am teaching a student bass, but they need the agility of a cellist, then I find material suitable to gain that outcome. However, I do understand that students and parents need track-able goals to perceive progress. I am always happy to discuss what method may be best used after I have observed the students aptitude and desired outcome. Read More

I teach the basics using a combination of methods, customizing lessons to each student's skill level, ability level, and interest (classical/folk/modern). For beginning students I suggest using the Suzuki Method, or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once each student is ready to move beyond the fundamentals, I find exercises and solos to best fit and improve their skill level for recital performances, competitions, strings class/orchestra, or other activities. Watching students learn and progress brings me so much joy. For younger students who are energetic, I love to incorporate games and activities to keep them engaged while we continue to learn important aspects on the violin. Encouragement and setting a steady pace is key for all ages and levels. Acknowledging big and small accomplishments keeps the students motivated and proud of their progress. I like to ask each student what their musical interests and goals are so that I can tailor the lesson to their needs. Read More

Teaching music is a very rewarding experience. Its often nice to see a student to be able to open their eyes and understand the music concept. Every child is different. I like to let each student to progress at their own pace. Patience is the key here when learning to play a new music instrument. I am very flexible and layback. Students enjoying playing their instrument and enloying their lessons is more important than being able to master a piece of music. Read More

I have taught violin for 5 years to beginners and intermediate level students. My youngest student was 4 and my oldest was 65. I have a lot of experience teaching beginner level but I also have experience teaching intermediate levels and some advanced levels as well. I have helped students prepare for orchestra auditions and for recitals. I mostly teach classical level repertoire to give my students a basic foundation of music. It is important for students to learn the classics first to prepare them for other forms of music later on. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
