I am a passionate and encouraging instructor who loves working with students of all ages and playing levels. I graduated from Agnes Scott College in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance. Ive participated in a number of ensembles including the Agnes Scott Community Orchestra and multiple chamber ensembles. I was leading band and sectionals in almost every instruments since I played 20 instruments. I end up volunteering for two years while I was in college and taught beginning band for freshmens in my high school. At the same time, I was teaching private lessons part-time. I am a member of the Symphonicity Orchestra in Virginia Beach, VA and the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra in Atlanta, GA. I have studied under the direction of The Hampton Roads Chamber Players and The Bay Youth Orchestra in Norfolk, VA. Currently performs several times a year at The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and several other events in the Atlanta Metro area. My cello instruction is separated by levels and books. Level 0-1 is in Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books 1 and 2. Level 1-2 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 1, as well as sheet music and books outside of that method book. Level 2-3 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 2 and sheet music, and 3+ will be Rick Mooney's Thumb Position books. I had a wonderful opportunity to perform live in Carnegie Hall, New York City, on live television, primetime on ABC, CBS, and NBC networks at age 15! Performing internationally with touring groups as a teen and as an adult has brought me many joys, meeting great musicians, making beautiful music, and wonderful memories. At the age of 17, I flew to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute where I studied Bass Guitar Performance. Learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the business was amazing. I left school to hit the road with my first professional band. I spent the next 20+ years writing, recording and touring all over the country. I was lucky enough to be in a few bands that landed indie recording contracts, which allowed me to tour nationally doing original music, with songs I had written being played on radio and on TV shows across the country. I have experience teaching all ages, from 5th grade to 55+, and I find it the most rewarding when my students work hard, improve, and achieve their goals. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. I foster learning more about the music and the people who make their favorite music great, and to seek and discover what they can do on/with the instrument. Read More
