In my voice lessons, I want to feel that the student is doing what they want to do, not just what I tell them. With this in mind, I work with the student to find songs or pieces that they want to try and sing. If it is an appropriate level of difficulty, we will work on it straight away. If it is a harder piece, We gradually work towards it, whilst simultaneously tackling other pieces with similar traits. Read More

The method I begin with depends on what the student responds to best. I first try to show them how enjoyable music is and how they can share it with family members and friends, including popular and holiday music and songs they may sing at church. Some students even like simplified jazz. I start holiday music in October and enjoy knowing how much their parents enjoy hearing and singing it. Read More

Alongside being an artist, teaching has been a great part of my life. In addition to my artistic career, I have had the privilege of having a dynamic educational career! My first teaching job dates back to 13 years ago. Since then, my career has branched out into many facets of the field, both as a classroom teacher and as a private instructor. I have had the opportunities to work with students of all ages, both in the academic and musical settings. My current educational stint is that of a special educator who works with children with Autism. In either setting, it is my goal as a teacher to get the student excited about learning the basics and then building the skills, so that he/she may perform to his/her fullest potential. Read More

I have been teaching music for 8 years, starting while in college. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching students from ages 4 to 20 to sing and play instruments because if you're not having fun when you're doing music, you're not doing it right. I love getting to see my students have breakthroughs as they develop their own musical personalities. I have also enjoyed my work with school and church ensembles ranging from ages 13 to 85 and can help my students have success at any level. Read More

I began teaching private lessons full time in 2011. I know that when students have fun and see progress at every lesson, they are motivated to become better musicians. As a result, progress is quicker and my students retain what they have learned. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music, as well as learning music I have composed, helps students enjoy the piano and motivates them to practice and continue to see improvements in their understanding and playing abilities. I absolutely love teaching the piano. I've taught kindergarten level students all the way up to 72 year olds. I've been teaching the piano for 7 years. During this time I've taught over 271 students how to play the piano, and over 500 students music theory. It's my goal to make sure that you reach the level of success on the piano that you desire. In fact, it was for this purpose that I was hired by a music school. Read More
