There are typically three books that I like to start children off with which include Piano Party, Music for Little Mozart’s, and My First Piano Adventure which are designed for children ages 4-11 years old. These books help children to understand the basics of rhythm, music theory, and activities associated with the two. I generally like to begin my teenage to adult students with the All in One Adult Course series which consists of three levels from easy to beginner intermediate and also combines a mixture of classical and modern music. My experience with vocal coaching started when I was a young girl helping to teach my church's choir parts for songs we had to learn. Once I went to college I joined the Gospel Chorale at Virginia State University where I helped guide the alto section for a month long European Christmas tour. I began teaching voice lessons in 1995 while living in Los Angeles, CA. I worked with many production and management companies developing unsigned and signed artists. I started teaching one-on-one so the students could get the results for strengthening their voice. As I always say "Singing is Breathing" so the first exercise I teach is proper diaphragmatic breathing to increase vocal range. My teaching experience began in spring 2008 at a local church where taught piano drums classes as a music instructor to students ranging from ages 5-18. Throughout college I was a piano and voice instructor at the Boys and Girls Club Music Clubhouse in Boston MA where I continued teach students ranging from ages 10-18.For the past three years I have continued to provide private instruction and tutoring for students of all ages.I find that my students have a much more pleasurable learning experience, when they are able to apply what they learn in ways that are meaningful to their desire and aspirations.I've always encouraged my students to uphold a positive work ethic and mindset when embarking on their musical journey.
