While living in Los Angeles and attending music school I was also teaching bass guitar part time. This was my first time teaching for money although I have been helping many musicians around me since I was young. I have a lot of experience with studio sessions, which requires learning the music and being able to improvise on the fly, while recording. This requires full knowledge of the instrument. I can cover many genres and teach you the basic fundamentals of these genres and proceed to teach you advanced techniques that will give you your own style. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I not only use books, but videos, lots of exercises to use when at home and formal presentations. Read More

She also studied piano for many years, and has experience as an accompanist and vocal coach.Other than her pedagogy training and the typical university diction and literature curriculum, she also took 14 years of French, and lived in a German-speaking country for the better part of a year studying the language. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing how your student progress, develop a passion and knowledge for music . I like to set realistic goals for each individual student who can progress at his or her own pace.It is very important for them to master basic knowledge of theory, technique, and sight reading in music. I like them to have a deceiplene in music; practice regularly, steady attendance.ask questions immediately when something is not clear, pay attention to fingering, count out loud to get the rhythm right. I adjust my teaching based on each student's abilities to maintain a relaxed, fun, and engaging atmosphere. For younger students, I typically start with Music for Little Mozarts, which includes a variety of activities in addition to the exploration of music. For older or more intermediate students, I recommend Faber Faber's Piano Adventures, which incorporates not only interesting musical selections, but also introduces music theory and analysis. For advanced students, I prefer to piece together selected repertoires based on music relevant to their interests; this typically includes a selection of classical and contemporary compositions with some discussion of the pieces' context within a greater scope of music history and theory. Piano: For beginning students who are children, I start by teaching out of the Faber Piano Adventure books. I find that they focus on the more exciting aspects of music, such as sight reading. This is different from the Bastion books which I think focus too much on more challenging (and boring) methods such as articulation. The Faber books are great because they have fun short songs that the student can play with the teacher in a duet. Read More
