Hi there! My name is Daniel and I have been playing the piano for over 12 years. I am also an experienced piano teacher, having taught for 5+ years. In addition to playing and teaching, I am also a composer, specializing in classical, pop, and jazz music. I have a strong foundation in music theory, choir, and music history, having completed a 7-year music school program. Throughout my musical journey, I have participated in numerous piano competitions, events, and concerts, which has given me valuable performance experience and a deep appreciation for the art of music. I encourage my students to write their own pieces and perform for one another in my "musical get togethers" held in my studio or sometimes in larger venues. I have also organized 'cello ensembles that would often incorporate a singer, similar to what Pablo Casals did, 50 years ago. I tend to make learning more fun than just teaching in a strict manner - it is too much work to learn an instrument so the student might as well enjoy what he/she is doing otherwise, why do it???? My first paid show was when I was 9 years old and got to play percussion for Chuck Mangione. I made $200 and I was hooked. I knew this what I had to be doing. I've toured the united stated with Buckets and tap Shoes and other artists, toured Japan in 2012 and was given the opportunity to play at the famous Blue Note, Body and Soul and other jazz clubs. I've toured Egypt as well, playing with The Mikarimba Band for Ciaro Jazz Festival in 2013. Read More

I began to teach piano 3 years ago. In those three years, I have been working with a lot of young children and gain many experience in teaching piano. I have found that motivation and determination are the most important factors which help my student make progress. Therefore, I always try to figure out what my students really like to play and to learn, so that it can motivate them to practice the instrument better. Read More

My lesson style is customized to each student. I use whatever is in my power and abilities to teach. It's about passion and letting go. Most importantly, it has to be rewarding and fun. And it always is! Read More

Everyone learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to meet the needs and goals of each individual. In any case, regular practice and lessons are crucial to success. I encourage the parents of young students to be involved in their kids' progress to help establish good habits. With adults, it's all about developing a regular practice schedule that they can stick to realistic goals. I like to spend lesson time addressing at least 2 pieces of music, some sort of technical skill, and occasionally incorporating games and listening exercises. Read More

I introduce scales right away and each student usually has a technique book. I also incorporate games into lessons for young students to keep it fun. As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on. I may also write some of my own music, especially for learning note reading. Read More
