I am a classical and jazz pianist who loves teaching people how to play piano. I graduated from Sonoma State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Jazz studies. I love learning about and teaching music theory as well. In addition to learning songs, I make sure to incorporate technique along with sight reading, and music theory during the lessons. For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. For guitar I teach note reading as well as tablature, but we mostly work from tablature, unless the student is studying classical. Read More

I am both goal-oriented and open-ended with my students. At the beginning of lessons, I always check in with them to see how their progress was for the week and any questions or concerns that arose in their practice. I find this puts the ownership on them to reflect on their week of music making (and help them to remember that practice happens more than just in the lesson!).
