Hello! I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Currently I am a musicology graduate student studying at the University of Massachusetts. My undergraduate degree is from Central Michigan University where I both taught and performed regularly. As a member of Michigan Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association, I have been granted the opportunities to present research on piano pedagogy both in state and national conferences and have received special training in piano pedagogy. I am a passionate and dedicated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of piano. In 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Music from the University of Saint Joseph. At that time I was taking piano lessons at the University of Hartford and teaching my own students. After graduation, I worked at Music Makers Academy in Manchester, CT for a few years before continuing to teach private lessons. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Music
I find it crucial to make sure the foundation of the voice is there before moving onto solo repertoire. By doing so, we can ensure the singing is always safe, healthy, and beautiful. In addition to teaching a healthy vocal technique, I strive to maintain a positive and uplifting environment for my students. I believe technique is important to become a successful singer, but feeling relaxed and comfortable while learning is just as important. Read More

My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for music and encourage each student to become their personal best. I find that it is important to get to know each student's goals so that we can work towards them as a team. I am constantly pushing my students forward, but I make sure to take the time and remind them where they came from. It is easy to get caught up in how far one still has to go to reach their dreams, but I find that if students remember how much progress they have already made, it really helps to motivate them! It's important that the students set goals for their playing as well, this helps with the self-motivation to practice. It could be something as simple as next week I want to play the single note that has been giving me trouble, or as advanced as I want to be able to play this solo piece from memory in three months. Progression in private lessons is all about the motivation of the student, so I try to give them as much motivation as possible. Read More

Fundamentals come from slow practice, and unfortunately, there is no true fun way of doing it. However, I pair technical work with listening assignments, so that the students actually see the point of fundamental training. Hanon is the one book that has stayed with me for two decades and I adhere to its various training regimens very closely. The book itself may be insufficient, but the auxiliary exercises I designed will improve the practice efficiency. Read More
